MUSIC IN THE NEW YEAR

Hello Leverett Families and Happy New Year!

This month the music blog focuses on 5th grade music, their study of endangered animals and how we can musically portray these animals. Students were asked to use hand-held percussion instruments and improvise what their animal might sound like when it moves, eats or communicates. Students were also encouraged to include the sounds of the habitat where the animal resides in their improvised soundscape. Your children have shown great creative prowess and it has been great fun throughout the month of January! Students are currently creating melodic representations of their animals on barred instruments. We will be notating these melodies in standard notation and a sampling of these projects will be  posted here early in February.
