Music Distance Learning Week of June 1, 2020

Hello Music Friends – As always, I hope you and your families are doing well during this tricky time. I’ve been making music outside on my back deck and the animals in my backyard (especially the birds) chime in when I’m playing!

I hope you enjoyed last week’s  Bingo Cards and had fun with the activities.  This week we will be exploring a program called Quaver – which is an online music teaching website. I’ve been working to see if this program might benefit Leverett School and am curious to know what you think of the lessons.

For my PreK and K Friends,

Music friends – please click on the link in the PRE – 2 Section Titled: Spring and Performing Expressively. Please Ask a parent to read instructions for you if you have questions. In this lesson you will learn Time for Music Fun, Los Pollitos, Rainy Weather and listen to a piece called “Spring” by Antonio Vivaldi – I’m also curious to know what song was your favorite and why! (Parents it would be helpful if you are near your child for this first lesson, you can listen to the songs/sing them together and discuss what you like and why. Students can extend this lesson by drawing pictures of their favorite songs – Lesson will take 20-30 minutes depending on your child’s interest.)

Screen 1 – Explore the characters on the screen while listening to one of the songs from the lesson.

Screen 2 – Sing the new welcome song Time for Music Fun, welcoming everyone to the lesson.

Screen 3 – Introduce the musical theme of the day, Performing Expressively.

Screen 4 – Sing a new action song called Los Pollitos.

Screen 5 – Focus on the social theme of the lesson, Spring.

Screen 6 – Listen to the story called, Boobam and Songbird Get Into Music – Spring.

Screen 7 – Review the story by asking critical thinking questions.

Screen 8 – Sing Rainy Weather, which accompanies the story.

Screen 9 – Click on Cloud and listen and move to Spring from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi.

Screen 10 – Choose the favorite song of the day, and discuss why it is the favorite.
